폴란드 학생들 미국에서 성공을 찾다

Dawid Mzyk and Marta Plominska have not always agreed on where their educational or career paths might take them.

데이위드 마직과 말타 폴민스카는 항상그들의 교육이나 커리어 패스를 수용하는데 동의 하지 않았습니다.

They are both formally trained musicians from Poland.

그들은 둘다 폴란드에서 정식 뮤지션수업을 받았습니다. 

The two had been in a relationship for several years when Dawid decided he wanted to attend an American college or university. At first, Marta had no desire to leave Europe.But, once she earned her master’s degree, she agreed to come to the U.S.

그 둘은 7년간 교제를 해오고 있었고 데이위드가 미국 대학교에 가기를 원했습니다. 처음에 말타는 유럽을 떠나고 싶은 마음이 없었습니다. 하지만 박사학위를 따고나자 그녀는 미국에 가는것을 동의 했습니다. 

From her very first day, Marta says there were major difficulties she had to overcome. For example, Kraków has a large public transportation system, while Columbus, where they both studied, has only a few buses. So it was hard to do anything without a car.

첫날 부터 그녀는  말타는 극복해야할 어려움이 너무 많다고 말했습니다. 예를 들어 클라코우는 그들이 공부했던 곳 의 가장큰 대중교통 시스템입니다. 하지만 콜럼버스시는 오직 몇대의 버스 밖에 없습니다. 차없이는 어디에든 가기 힘들었죠.  

But Marta also noted a major difference in the behavior of Americans:

하지만 말타는 가장큰 차이점의 미국인들의 행동임을 알아챘습니다. 

"The people in the U.S. … They are smiling on the street when they pass you, and they usually say, ‘Hi. How are you?’ which will never happen to you in Europe."

미국사람들은 길에서 당신을 지나갈때 웃으며 대개 "안녕, 잘지내?" 라고 말합니다. 유럽에서는 절대 일어나지 않을 일이죠. 

Music has also helped the couple make connections in their new home. "If you're a musician, you speak the same language – in Poland, in the United States – music is always the same wherever you go," says Dawid.

음악은 그들의 새로운 집에서 연결될수 있도록 도와주었습니다. "만약 당신이 뮤지션이라면, 당신은 모두 같은 언어를 쓰고 있는 것이다. - 폴란드던 미국이던- 음악은 당신이 어디에 있던지 항상 같다 " 데이위드는 말했습니다. 

Since they both started enjoying their life in the U.S. they decided to continue their education there and they both enrolled at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, or UNLV.

둘 모두 미국에서의 삶을 즐기기 시작하면서 부터 그들은 교육을 계속하기로 마음먹었습니다. 그리고 라스베가스 대학에 등록 했습니다. 

Las Vegas has many casinos and large hotels, where some of the most popular entertainers from around the world perform.

라스베가스는 많은 카지노와 큰 호텔이 있습니다. 이곳에서는 세계 각지에서 몰려든 가장인기있는 엔터테이너들이 있습니다. 

Dawid and Marta are now teaching assistants at UNLV. They agree that teaching has helped them become better musicians.

데이위드와 말타는 라스베거스 대학교에서 보조교사로 있습니다. 그들은 가르치는 것 역시 더 나은 뮤지션이 되는데 도움이 된다고 생각합니다.
