Trump Says North Korean Leader Ready to 'Make Peace'

지난주는 우리나라 대북특사의 외교 협상력으로 시작해 김정은의 깜짝 제안 그리고 트럼프의 대담한 수용이 있었던 한 주였습니다. 너무 급진적인 전개에 관련 기관들과 국가들은 당혹스러움을 감추질 못했습니다. 앞으로 상황이 어떻게 전개될지는 잘지켜 봐야겠지만 저는 한반도에 남북대립구도가 더이상 지속되지 않았으면 합니다. 통일이 베스트겠지만 당장 추진하기보다는 북한이 중국이나 베트남을 모델로 한 경제개방과 미국 그리고 우리나라 수교를 맺어 자유왕복 할 수있기만 해도 좋겠습니다. 그리고 북한 내 개발 투자는 전적으로 대한민국과 진행하구요. 다른 나라 못껴들게...그리고 나중에 점진적 통일로 가는 방향으로 했으며 좋겠습니다. 앞으로 계속 흥미롭게 지켜 볼 내용입니다.

Trump Says North Korean Leader Ready to 'Make Peace'

Donald Trump said Saturday that he believed North Korea was ready "to make peace" after its leader, Kim Jong Un, declared his willingness to meet the U.S. president.

도널드 트럼프 대통령은 북한이 ‘평화를 위한’ 준비가 되었음을 믿는다고 지난 토요일 말했습니다. 김정은은 미국 대통령을 만날 의지를 표명했습니다. 

"I think it's time," Trump said at a political rally in an airplane hangar in Moon Township, Pennsylvania.

“때가 되었다” 트럼프는 펜실베니아의 문타운십(Moon Township) 에 있는 비행기 격납고안의 정치회의에서 이 같이 말했습니다. 

Kim is "a man who's nuked-up all over the place," but now "he's not going to send missiles up" while planning is underway for unprecedented face-to-face talks between the leaders of North Korea and the United States, Trump said.

김정은은 “미사일을 마구 쏘아대는 남자” 였지만 우리가 전례없는 북미회담을 진행하는 동안  “그는 더이상 미사일을 쏘지 않을 것이다.” 라고 트럼프 대통령은 말했습니다.

He added that when he meets Kim, "I may leave fast or we may sit down and make the greatest deal for the world.”

그는 덧붙였습니다. 그가 김정은을 만나게되면 “나는 빨리 떠날 수 도 아니면 앉아서 세계에서 가장 위대한 협상을 만들수도있다”.

Trump also took credit for the success of the Winter Olympics that South Korea recently hosted, saying without his effort to reduce the threat of a nuclear attack, it "would have been a total failure.”

최근 남한에서 개최된 동계올림픽의 성공에 대해서도 핵위협을 줄기기 위한 김정은 노력이 없었다면 "완전히 실패할 수 도 있었을 것”이라고 트럼프는 말했고 신용을 얻었습니다.  

Departing the White House for the Pennsylvania rally, Trump replied to reporters who asked about why he had decided at this juncture to accept Kim's offer, "I think this is going to be something very successful. We have a lot of support.”

펜실베니아 회의를 위해 백악관을 떠나며 트럼프는 ‘왜 지금과 같이 중요한 시기에 김정은의 제안을 수락했냐는’ 기자들의 질문에 대답했습니다. “이것은 매우 중요한 성공이 될것이라고 생각한다. 우리는 서로 많은 지원을 하고있다”

The head of South Korea's National Security Office, Chung Eui-yong, in a statement to reporters on the West Wing driveway Thursday night, said he had briefed Trump about a meeting he and other South Korean officials held with Kim earlier in the week in Pyongyang. The North Korean leader, according to Chung, "committed to denuclearization" and to suspending nuclear and missile tests.

정의용 대한민국 국가안보실장은 지난주 목요일 밤 기자 진입로에서 성명을 발표했습니다. 그는 이번주 초 남한의특사가 평양에서 김정은을 만난것에 대해 트럼프 에게 브리핑을 했습니다. 그의 발표에 따르면 북한의 리더는 “비핵화를 실현하겠다” 그리고 핵미사일 실험을 보류 하겠다라고 말했습니다.  

But skeptics remain about Trump's agreement for a face-to-face meeting with Kim.

하지만 아직 트럼프와 김정은의 대면협상에 대한 의구심은 있습니다. 

Speaking to Wikitribune, Tom Plant, a nuclear expert at Royal United Services Institute, said “the chances of it going wrong are always greater than the chances of it going right.”

로얄유나이티드서비스의 핵전무가인 탐 플랜트는 위키본에서 “ 나빠질 가능성은 언제나 좋아질 가능성보다 많다” 라고 말했습니다. 

A Democratic opponent of Trump, Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, said on NBC, "I want to see our president succeed, because if he succeeds, America succeeds.The world is safer. But I am very worried that they're going to take advantage of him.”

트럼프의 반대자들 중 한명인 메사추세츠의 워렌 엘리자베스는 NBC방송에서 다음과 같이 말했습니다 

“나는 우리 대통령이 성공하는것을 보고 싶습니다. 그가 성공해야만 미국이 성공하고 세계가 보다 안전해질 수 있습니다. 하지만 나는 그가 정치적 이점안을 이용하려 하는것이 아닌지 우려스럽습니다.”
