우리는 친구에 대해 이야기하는것이 필요합니다.

Today we will talk about different expressions that we use for different kinds of friendship.

오늘 우리는 어려종류의 친구에 대한 서로다른 표현에 대해서 이야기 할 겁니다.

Your childhood friends, for example, are the people you grew up with. Many people grow apart from their childhood friends. But some people remain close with those who were among their first friends.

여러분의 어린시절 친구들, 예를 들어, 함께 자란 친구들입니다. 많은 사람들이 어린시절 친구들과는 떨어져서 지내게 됩니다. 하지만 몇몇 사람들은 여전히 그들의 첫 친구들과 가까운 친구로 남아 있기도 합니다. 

These days, there are people who are friends through social media, mainly Facebook. As social media developed, the word "friend" has also become a verb, as in this example: "I unfriended her on my social media accounts.”

최근, 소셜미디어-주로 페이스북-를 통해 생긴 친구들도 많습니다.  소셜미디어가 발전하자, "friend"라는 단어 역시 동사가 되었습니다. "나는 내 계정에서 그 친구를 unfriended 했어"

Now, if you have friends who are important or extremely wealthy and powerful, you might say that you have friends in high places. These friends have power and influence.They can help you when you're in trouble or when you need something.

지금, 만약 당신이 매우 중요하고, 부유하며 막강한 영향력이 있는 친구를 가졌다면, 당신의 높은 곳 "in high places" 에 있는 친구를 가진 것 입니다. 

If someone is no longer your friend, you can call him or her an ex-friend. The two of you may have had a “falling out," meaning a disagreement or fight. And now you are no longer talking to each other.

만약 누군가가 더이상 당신의 친구가 아니라면, 당신은 그 혹은 그녀에게 전화를 할수있습니다. 그 둘은 당신에게 "falling out" 일 수 있습니다. 그 뜻은 싸웠거나 결별 했다 것입니다. 그리고 더이상 서로간에 이야기를 하지 않는 것 입니다. 

There's another kind of friend that we've all had at one point: the fair-weather friend.

그리고 우리모두가 하나씩은 있는 또 다른 타입의 친구가 있습니다 : 좋은 날씨 친구

The term fair-weather means something that can only be used in good weather. For example, in boating, a fair-weather sail is only good for sailing in good weather. And a fair-weather tent is only meant to be used when camping in dry weather.

fair-weather의 의미는 날씨가 좋은날에만 사용할 수 있는 어떤것을 의미합니다. 예를 들어, 보트에서 'a fair-weather sail'은 오직 날씨좋은날만 하는 항해입니다. fair-weather tent는 건조하고 좋은날에만 하는 캠핑에서만 쓰입니다. 

Well, the same can be said for a fair-weather friend. Such a person is only there during easy, carefree times. But as soon as things get difficult, they are nowhere to be found!

그리고, 친구에게도 똑같이 fair-weather friend라고 할수있습니다. 언제나 쉽고, 자유로운 시간에만 하지만 무언가 어려워지면 찾을수 없는 그런 친구를 말합니다. 

That is why we have close friends and even best friends. This person will help you through thick and thin. And who doesn't want a friend like that?

이것은 가까운 친구와 베스트프랜드를 가져야 하는 이유입니다. 이런 사람들은 언제나 함께하고 당신을 도와주는데 누가 이런친구를 마다하겠어요?
